Writing a sentence can be intimidating for some children. These connecting rods from Learning Resources will let your child experiment with the placement of words without the dreaded fear of the "white page". If he doesn't like the way it sounds, he can just take it apart and start over. After he finishes his sentence, he can then copy it down.
