Reading Rods (created by Learning Resources) are really neat. Even veteran homeschoolers who have taught several children to read are getting excited about them.

Reading Rods are manipulatives used to teach phonics. Similar to math manipulatives, you can snap them together to form words.

Each set of rods come in a plastic bucket. You can purchase an activity book and additional card sets if you would like. There are also Phonics Activity Sets for:
