Five In A Row is a curriculum designed for the mom and child who love to read and love to learn. The basic idea behind Five In A Row is that mom and child will cuddle up on the couch and read a wonderful children's book.
But that's not the end. After reading, there are wonderful ideas to encourage learning all types of things from the book itself. Things like: Language, Art, Applied Math, Science, Geography, History. You can choose how much or how little of these subjects to cover making Five in A Row a very flexible curriculum.
Each day, for a full week, the same book will be read and more learning will happen. This repetition of reading the book every day for 5 days will give mom and child the chance to really get into the book. Each reading, there will be something else gleaned from the book's pages. Whether it's becoming more familiar with the story line or noticing more details in beautiful illustrations or learning what some of those challenging words mean, the book will become a part of your child's life. He will always remember the time spent with mom, the things learned during the cuddle times and the wonderful story the book offers. What a great way to encourage your child to have a love of reading.
All of this with less than 5 minutes preparation time on mom's part. That alone makes a great curriculum for the new home school mom or the veteran mom that has too many pots on the fire. While many of the books used in Five In A Row can be found at your local library, I recommend buying as many as your pocket book can afford. Once your child becomes intimately familiar with his book, he'll want to read it again and again.
