How many times have you wanted a hands on visual to demonstrate one of the many bible stories that involved food. These food sets from Learning Resources are very realistic looking. They are made of washable, soft plastic that will last for many years. They come in colorful plastic baskets that make great storage containers. When I use them with a class, I buy 2 sets. The contents of both sets typically fit in one basket, so you have an extra basket to use with another visual you may have. I have found these pretend food sets very useful with Palma Smiley's To Toddlers With Love series. When teaching about The Boy That Shared His Lunch (Jesus Feeds the 5000), or David, as you teach about what a shepherd does during the day, or about God Made Me, showing that God gave us good food to eat.

The food can also be put in a prayer box to remind the children that we should thank God for our food. I have used them in a Learning Sack (one of Palma Smiley's ideas also). Each child reaches in a pulls out a piece of food and we talk about what wonderful food God gave us.
