These two folder games should help your students memorize Matthew 7:24-27. The student is asked to unscramble words within the text and place the correct word on top of the scrambled word. This kinesthic and visual (also auditory if you have the student read it aloud) activity will help them cement the words in their mind, making it their own.
Below are the general instructions for making a folder game/activity. Specific instructions for making this particular activity is included in the pdf file.
Materials needed:
Starting with a colorful folder is always helpful. You can buy boxes of assorted colors at office supply stores. You can use whatever color you choose. This one would work with purple very easily.
Copies of pdf files below. The cards and pockets should be printed on cardstock. The cover and numbers should be printed on regular copy paper.
Glue stick and Elmer's glue. I use the Elmer's glue to glue down pockets. Use a very thin line of glue on both sides and bottom. Don't use too much. The glue stick will be used for everything else. Glue stick will not leave ripples like regular glue will. When gluing the numbers to the cards, make sure you have the correct number with the correct clues. Completely cover the back of the number with glue stick. You're going to cute these apart after laminating. If you don't glue every inch of it, there might be gaps where the cut is made. The title instructions just need a little glue stick to hold them down until lamination. Don't use regular glue on title and instructions.
Scissors or paper cutter. A psper cutter comes in really handy to make the long straight cuts, but it's not absolutely necessary.
Laminator. If you're going to this much trouble to make an activity that will be used by kids, go ahead and laminate. It will last for years to come.
Click on the link below to view/print the pdf file for this folder game. Instructions are on the page for the cards. All the pages should be printed on copy paper except the 2 cards pages which should be printed on card stock. There are 5 pages in all. As with the other pdf files I've created, I had to adjust some of the fonts and colors so it would print out nicely. Your folder game will look slightly different than the ones pictured.
