Folder Games/Activities
4th-6th grades
I've been wanting to share some of the activities I used in the 4-6th grade classes stations. Here is my first attempt. So far, I just know how to create a separate pdf file for each page. You'll have to click on each page and print it out. Below are some general instructions for putting together any of the folder games I might add.
Materials needed:
Starting with a colorful folder is always helpful. You can buy boxes of assorted colors at office supply stores. You can use whatever color you choose. This one would work with purple very easily.
Copies of pdf files below. The cards and pockets should be printed on cardstock. The cover and numbers should be printed on regular copy paper.
Glue stick and Elmer's glue. I use the Elmer's glue to glue down pockets. Use a very thin line of glue on both sides and bottom. Don't use too much. The glue stick will be used for everything else. Glue stick will not leave ripples like regular glue will. When gluing the numbers to the cards, make sure you have the correct number with the correct clues. Completely cover the back of the number with glue stick. You're going to cute these apart after laminating. If you don't glue every inch of it, there might be gaps where the cut is made. The title instructions just need a little glue stick to hold them down until lamination. Don't use regular glue on title and instructions.
Scissors or paper cutter. A psper cutter comes in really handy to make the long straight cuts, but it's not absolutely necessary.
Laminator. If you're going to this much trouble to make an activity that will be used by kids, go ahead and laminate. It will last for years to come.
Instructions:
Print out pdf files. Cut out and glue title, instructions (for kids -- don't glue instructions for assembly on folder), and file tab label on front of folder.
Glue pocket on the back. I usually make these, but you can use ready made envelopes. To make one, fold 8 1/2 X 11 paper in half vertically within an inch of the top. Fold top down (to make flap). Fold sides toward the back. This doesn't have to be measured, just fold them back to make a pocket the size you want. Glue the side flaps shut on the back. You'll have to cut the top flap on each side so it can open and close. Generously glue pocket on back of folder with regular glue.
Copy circle page on copy paper. Glue every inch with glue stick to inside of folder.
Laminate folder and cards
Using an xacto knife, carefully slit around the flap on the back pocket.
Copy cards on cardstock. Mark the backs with appropriate colored sticker or pencil/marker/crayon mark. Laminate and cut apart.
Place clue cards in back pocket and you're ready for class.
Description of This Activity:
The Wise Man and the Foolish Man Comparison Folder Game/Activity
Students will use their Bible to compare/contrast the wise man and the foolish man. After placing the cards in the correct section of the circle diagram, they will be able to check their work by turning the cards over. If they got the answers write, the cards will have the same color circle on the back as the part of the circle they are in.

The above links were my first attempt at creating pdf files. I wasn't pleased with the way the text came out on those, so after playing around with it a little I came up with the version below. The only thing I don't like about the version below is I had to make it a little less fun. The pdf program I use didn't like all the color and fancy fonts I was using. The version below has all four pages needed in one file.
