How well do you remember Sunday AM's sermon when you get home? Good listening skills are essential to learn from a sermon. I, for one, have trouble concentrating on a sermon that doesn't have visual aids (overheads, power point, etc). Our young people will learn how to be a more effective listener using David Banning's Sermon Notes.
The lessons are taught differently than the others in this series. The material to be taught will be whatever the sermon is about. The student will be encouraged to take notes that will then be reviewed and discussed during class time.
During the sermon:
- Students take notes from sermon
- Students note the theme
- Students note the main points
- Students will determine how they can apply this sermon to their lives
During class:
- The class will discuss their analysis of the sermon
- The class will discuss the application to be made
- The students will be asked to evaluate themselves as listeners (we're hoping for improvement as time goes on)
