Meet The Dow Family
Danny and I have been involved in teaching the Bible in various settings for over 20 years. One of our dreams was to open a bookstore. With the popularity of the internet, we have been able to see the beginning of that dream develop. We began with Home School Curriculum. This year we added Bible Class Supplies and Educational Toys. We are adding products as quickly as we can, but it seems slow going at times. If you don't find what you are looking for now, come back in a few weeks, it might've been added.
Every congregation we have moved to, has needed some help with their Bible Classes. We have always worshipped at relatively small congregations that have some challenging problems. Small congregations have problems such as not very many young people, gaps in the ages of young people, or not enough teachers to help out. We have seen teachers that feel like they are stuck in a class and will never get a break. We have seen children that may be the only one their age sit in a Bible Class with just themselves and a teacher. We have seen classrooms that are less than inviting.
Our goal is to provide teachers with resources to make their teaching easier and interesting. We have learned over the years some great ways to help congregations that are trying to equip their young people with the knowledge of the Bible they will need to face the world in their adult years. We hope to encourage the teacher to make the Bible Class a place the children are anxious to come to. We ultimately want all the children that enter one of these classes to realize the importance of believing and obeying God. These children are the future of the Church. We must prepare them.
Let me introduce my family:
- Matthew is now 17 years old, a good student, but his love is baseball. We enrolled him in public school last year so he could pursue his dream of playing baseball. He did well in school, but he realized he was just wasting time. He decided to come home again. After looking at our options, we graduated him and he is now a full-time student at the local junior college. After attending Singing School last summer, he is an excellent song leader.
- James is 13 years old and plays a mean boogie on the piano. He is discovering that math is his strong point. He really enjoys getting together with the other home schooled boys in this area. I think he's my "Socialable Sam".
- Andrew is 11 years old. He is always begging to do the messy science stuff. Art is his passion. Every once in a while, he will say,"I've got to draw. I have a picture in mind and I have to put it on paper". After a couple of years hiatus (spelling?) from the piano, he is now playing again and doing it beautifully.
- Timothy is 8 years old. He's learning that growing up requires more responsibility. He doesn't like it when he learns a new chore, and then has to do that chore regularly. He wants to be a composer. He really enjoys the piano. He has just begun playing the violin.
- Jonathan is 3. He thankfully has come out of the terrible two's. He is really sweet and learns something new everyday. He loves to sing "Holy, Holy, Holy". I just wish he would potty train.
- Benjamin is 1. He has now taken over Jonathan's old job of screaming really, really loud. He loves to go to his Bible Class. He is very socialable and pleasant to be around.
- Diana, the mom, is the keeper of the home and teacher of the boys. I teach piano and violin lessons from home and play the violin periodically with The Orchestra Of The Pines. My latest adventure is learning to make this webpage. It has been a real experience. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do something. If I can learn this, anyone can.
- Danny has preached the gospel of Jesus Christ for over 20 years. He is presently laboring with the HUNTINGTON CHURCH OF CHRIST in Huntington, Texas.
