Base Ten Blocks are a great way to teach 2-8 graders place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Your child will actually borrow a rod when he's subtracting instead of just doing it on paper. In this Base Ten Blocks set there are 100 cm cubes (one's place), 30 long rods (tens place),ten flats (hundred's place) and one thousand cube block (thousand's place). This set of Base Ten Blocks are plastic and have an interlocking feature that allows your child to snap the blocks together. You can expect these blocks to last through all your children. You also get a 96 page Base Ten Book that gives you lots of ideas on how to use them.

While Miquon Math does not require Base Ten Blocks in its program, I have found my set invaluable for some lessons.
